Evaluate and Analyze
Take one week of your lesson plans and ask the following questions:

  1. Where am I using technology?
  2. Where are my students using technology?
  3. How is the technology being used?
  4. Is it an integral part of student learning?

The purpose of these questions is to evaluate and analyze how you and your students are using technology. Your goal is to use technology as a tool and to integrate technology into all aspects of teaching and learning.

Increase Technology Use
Think of the theme based instruction that our curriculum follows. When you are teaching a theme topic, you attempt to integrate all of the subject areas whenever it is appropriate. Technology should be used in the same way.

For example:

Arts & Humanities - 4th Grade - Biographies & Autobiographies
Technology uses that are most likely already taking place include:
Research on the Internet - What is a biography/autobiography? Finding the biography/autobiography of a particular person. Using a word processing program to type your own life story.

Technology uses that may not be in place:
Using Kidspiration© to create a visual map or timeline of the person's life.
Use Paint© to create a Venn Diagram that compares the lives of two people.
Create a Power Point© presentation to present an oral report in class on the person who was studied.

Your mentor and the Technology Coordinator can provide additional help to increase the use of technology in your classroom.
