Curriculum

The GCCS curriculum is theme based and incorporates the NJCCCS. The curriculum was created to support the mission of our school. In its mission, GCCS proposes to create a child-centered environment that will promote independent and cooperative learning based on inquiry and exploration.

Our curriculum is housed within a web-based program called "Atlas." The purpose of Atlas is to:

  • Electronically encompass the curriculum mapping process
  • Facilitated collaboration among teachers across subjects and grade levels
  • Develop and share curriculum strategies among all those involved in ensuring quality education for GCCS students
  • Encourage best practices and reference standards of excellence
  • Advance and improve the learning experience of the students

The New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards are organized according to the subject area. Also included with the standards are frameworks for the standards that provide sample activities, assessment information and adapatation information which you may find useful when planning.

When you visit Atlas or use the GCCS curriculum resource book, you will see how we are implementing the standards throughout our curriculum.
