The purpose of the content knowlege section is to ensure that the new teacher has a comprehensive background in the content knowledge that will be taught in each theme.

As a GCCS teacher, you are expected to

• Identify the theme topics that you are responsible for teaching,
• Evaluate your knowledge of these topics,
• Evaluate your resources of the topics and
• Learn more information about the topics through additional resources when needed.

Once you have gone over your theme planning you will need to decide what you already know about the topics and how much more information you need to gather. Take a look at your classroom resources, Resource Scope and Sequence and other resources to determine if they will provide you with the information you need.

Once you have exhausted all current resources, you will need to research the topic if you need more information. Your mentor, team members and colleagues will be a great source for deciding where to begin your research.
